Thankfully he does nap quite frequently during the day. This is when I get to play on my CSM. He usually lays right by my feet when I do. I think he likes the sound it makes. Anyway, the last couple of weeks have been spent on heels, toes, and socks. Lots and lots of practicing....and mistakes. So far my favorite heel to do is a wrapped heel. I've made five pair of socks but only two have remained with me. The other 3 have gone to new homes....flaws and all. And no photos!! :(
The pair on the left is a no-sew toe up with a 1x1mock rib hem. Lots and lots of screw ups learning how to do that toe. The pair on the right is a top down sock with a picot hem. Both have wrapped heels. The pair on the left has a shorter leg and is a bit too long in the foot for me. They will probably end up being my "around the house" socks. The ones on the right fit beautifully.
These are the practice pieces that ended up being socks. What happens to the rest you ask? They get turned into various things like gift bags....
......or soft weights for the CSM. The numbers designate weight. They are filled with bb's. Lots and lots of bb's. I actually prefer using them over the hanging weights. I feel they are a but easier on the knitting. The green "gift bag" pictured above is actually destined to become a 4# soft weight. Just need to get more bb's so I can finish it.
I want to do a few more pairs of socks before I move on and learn how to use the ribber. My toes and heels get better with each pair....and I become more comfortable with how they are made and with my CSM. While it is incredibly frustrating at times it is very enjoyable at the same time. I really love my CSM ....which I find surprising.....and am very happy about. :)
