Unsettled weather....

.....makes for a perfect day to stay inside, curled up in my favorite chair, stitching the afternoon away. Storm clouds on a blue sky.....

Roseville

Sometimes it's a good thing to re-visit the past....especially in quilting.  =)  This is a "blast from the past" that finally decided to call my name and I've been having tons of fun getting reacquainted with it. I have to confess that I'm glad it was set aside all those years ago. I definitely did not have the knowledge or skills for this wonderful quilt then.....as I do now.

Not all of the blocks are completely finished. Some of the appliqué has to wait until that specific block has been sewn to its neighbor. The reason for this....the appliqué crosses seam lines. There are 12 blocks, a large center block, and borders.....all appliqué.  So far I have five blocks done and am waiting to start on number six. Just need to finish a project or two first....

For those who are curious........the pattern is by Maggie Walker, as are the fabrics I'm using for it.

Saltbox Sampler

It's been awhile since my last post. Been busy quilting.   :)  The last of the little blocks for my Saltbox Sampler are done and I've been busy putting them together into the quilt center. There are 41 little blocks in all. The quilt center needs to be trimmed up before adding the borders. After the borders are on there is a bit of appliqué to do before it will be ready for sandwiching and quilting.

The pieced house will be inserted into a side border. Should look real pretty when done.  :)

Heartland Shawl

It's done!!! It has a wingspan of 65" and is 33" deep. Large.....and heavy! The weight is probably from all the beads. I used 3 full tubes plus a bit from a fourth. Haven't figured out how many that is....and I don't feel like counting.   :)

I really love the way this shawl turned out. Not sure it will be leaving the house. It was started with the intention of being a gift. Now I'm thinking I will be making another gift.

It's weenie - approved!!!
