Finishes

Bertie's Winter is done!! Love, love, love the way it turned out.

Here's a blast from the past.....Sheep in the Willows. I had started hand quilting it (big stitch), but had to put it aside due to hand pain. Thought it would pass, but never did (may have carpal tunnel...still waiting for testing appts and such). Anyway, I decided to pull it back out. Spent an afternoon pulling out all the hand stitching and two more afternoons machine quilting and binding it. It is now done. WoolHooo!!! Love the way it turned out.  =)

I have moved on to yet another "blast from the past" and hope to have that completely finished as well. That's for another post.  =)

Bertie's Winter - a quilt in the making

This has been super fun to do. Here are the different parts completed. Each block was embellished with swarovski crystals and/or pearls ( or something equally pretty). They will be trimmed to size in preparation for the next step.....adding half square triangle units.

There were 90 half-square triangle units that needed to be made. Did I mention that they needed to be 2 1/2" in size? They were made using a technique I wasn't familiar with. Once I figured out what I was doing it went pretty quickly with the help of my rotating cutting mat and easy angle ruler.

Then the fun began....sewing all those units together....and putting the top together.

And a top is born!!!

Now to sandwich and quilt it.
