Socks For Me!!

After making socks for everyone else I'm finally taking the time to make socks for me. This doesn't mean that I haven't made any socks for myself before now. I have several pairs of "practice" socks that I wear on a pretty regular basis now that the weather has gotten colder. What this means is that I'm finally playing with my "sock numbers" and am making socks that fit me perfectly. No more "should have made this two rows smaller or larger" stuff.  Now I finally have what everyone has.......socks that fit me perfectly. And totally understand what the recipients of my hand-cranked socks have been raving about. It's amazing!!  No more heels riding up or too large/small socks. These are an absolute dream to wear.

I've also broken into my small stash of "just for me" sock yarn. The socks pictured were knit from Aslantrends kettle hand-dyed yarn....Santa Fe color way. It was a fun yarn to knit up. Loved watching all the color changes. I knit these using a 3x1 mock rib with a hung hem on the 72 cylinder. I chose the 3x1 mock rib because it makes the socks done on a larger cylinder fit me better. Pulls the fabric in for a closer fit. I also like the way it broke up the color pooling.

So here they are. My very first pair of perfectly fitting socks (#38....yes, I number the socks I make) in a lovely hand dyed yarn.  :)   Sister socks!!

Changes

For those of you who follow my blog (thank you!!!) you may have noticed some changes.  =)  First the format of the blog itself is different. While I loved the old format a lot it was time to change to one that would allow me to be a bit more creative ....which is always a good thing. In the sidebar a "craftlet" has been added. Now you can scroll through my patterns without leaving my blog. If you see something you like simply click (or tap) the photo and it will take you right to the pattern page in my Craftsy shop. As for other changes....my list of favorites has been updated with a couple new ones added. That is pretty much it. I hope you enjoy the new changes as much as I do.

Not much going on around here. Been sick (pleurisy) and haven't had much energy for anything lately...even knitting. Especially knitting. I've learned not to knit when I'm not feeling well. I end up "tinking " more than knitting. Needless to say I'm still plodding away on the first border of the Orenburg warm shawl (formerly known as the test knit).

As far as new designs.......not much better. I've been working on a new shawl design for quite some time now. Just not clicking. I must have reworked the charts for it at least half a dozen times already....and knit at least a dozen swatches for it. Not quite sure why it isn't working. With my luck it's some teeny-tiny little thing that will pop out at me and make me go "duh!" ......once I'm clear-headed. For now it's being set aside.....before I get too frustrated and "86" it altogether.

Photo of the day:
This was taken at one of my favorite parks when everything was in full bloom. With the weather getting colder it's nice to have reminders of warmer days.

Morning Glory

I've always loved how pretty these flowers are but never thought they would grow up here. This year I threw caution to the wind, bought some seeds, and planted them. Imagine my surprise when they not only grew but thrived.  My day is started by going out and seeing each day's blooms. This morning's blooms were amazing! This is the most blooms so far with the greatest amount of color and variety. I just had to share photos.
